Young Hearts for Life™
Cardiac Screening Program
Since 2009 more than 28,000 free heart screenings have been provided to District 204 high school students through the Young Hearts for Life™ (YH4L) cardiac screening program. The Indian Prairie Educational Foundation is proud to be a supporter of this initiative, partnering with Edward Heart Hospital and local sponsors to make this program possible. Generous grants, in 2013 and 2015, from CN Railroad have helped support this program.
The YH4L program is designed to identify high school students at risk for sudden cardiac death. YH4L screening includes an electrocardiogram (ECG) and may include a screening echocardiogram (ECHO). More than 200 trained community volunteers donate their time to help with each screening event.

Screenings will again be offered at Metea Valley, Neuqua Valley, the Birkett Freshman Center and Waubonsie Valley during the 2018-19 school year.
