Susan Rasmus was appointed as the Foundation’s first Executive Director in September 2013. Her background within the district includes four years of service on the Indian Prairie District 204 Board of Education where she served as both President and Vice President. Her involvement in the district began when her children started elementary school. Susan worked on numerous committees at Nancy Young Elementary before eventually serving five years on their Executive Board and two years as the organization’s President. She was a member of the Indian Prairie Parents Council and has volunteered her time in multiple capacities throughout the district and community. She has also spent time in 204 classrooms as a substitute teacher.
Previously Susan worked for Lynnwood, Washington based, All for Kidz, Inc. as Director of Business Development. Her role included developing strategies to gain district wide approval for use of the company’s character education assembly in school district’s across the country.
Susan grew up in central Illinois and attended Eastern Illinois University where she worked at the campus television station. A speech communications major, she went on to work as a reporter for the CBS affiliate in Terre Haute, Indiana, before relocating to the Chicago area. Susan has two children who are graduates of Metea Valley High School.
