Somali Tomczak is a Director of Field Operations for Nicor Gas. In this role, she oversees operations and maintenance activities for the Eastern Region of Nicor Gas. Prior to this role, she managed areas with responsibilities in environmental health and safety, construction, pipeline safety, operational training and quality, and other compliance programs. She also held various roles in the energy industry including system operations, new construction, budget analysis, and engineering.
Ms. Tomczak is Chair and founding member of Inspire, a women’s employee resource group for Nicor Gas. She also has served on various national American Gas Association (AGA) Committees and Task Forces and was past Chair of the AGA Environmental Matters Committee. She has received the Bronze and Silver Awards of Merit from AGA for her work. In addition, Ms. Tomczak serves on the Women’s Leadership Council for Chicago Metropolitan United Way and serves on the Board of Directors for Lake Katherine Nature Center and Botanical Garden. She participates in STEMs and workforce development activities for Nicor Gas and is active in community volunteer services including the Conservation Foundation, the Naperville Community Career Center and Family Shelter Services.
She earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Civil and Environmental Engineering and an MBA from DePaul University, Kellstadt School of Business.
Ms. Tomczak is married to John Tomczak and has a very busy daughter at Neuqua Valley High School.
