Indian Prairie Educational FoundationEnriching Education for District 204 Students

A+ Awarded at Peterson

The Indian Prairie Educational Foundation and District 204 recently honored second-grade teacher Amanda Yee with the A+ Award.

You can watch the A+ Award team’s surprise visit to recognize Yee for “Making a Difference” at A+ Award video.

In nominating Yee, parent Denis Mascari said every child deserves a champion who understands them and insists they become the best they can be.  “What propels Ms. Yee to another level is the relationships she builds with every student and her ability to appreciate and bring out the unique strengths in every child,” Mascari said.

Neuqua Valley sophomore Paige Adamski, Scullen sixth grader Rachel O’Brien, and Peterson fifth grader Ryan Mascari also contributed to the nomination sharing how Yee had positively impacted them.  “She is an awesome teacher and I was so lucky to have her,” O’Brien said.

Teaching is a second career for Yee.  She worked as an accountant for five years before her mother encouraged her to consider teaching.  This is her fourth year at Peterson Elementary.  She said spending time with her students is her favorite thing and she finds it rewarding to get to know them and their interests and then see them grow.

Wells Fargo Advisors is partnering with IPEF and District 204 to help recognize one staff member each month for making a difference for students.  To celebrate these outstanding staff members, Wells Fargo Advisors is donating $500 for the staff member to use in his or her school.
